Once a common sight, one-man bands have been gradually dwindling in number. In 2005, in Buenos Aires, Rolando Bruno y Su Orquesta MIDI (i.e. the guitarist from the punk bank Los Peyotes) filled his iPod with all the backing music he needed and, as they say, put on his dancing shoes. Turning old cumbia songs into shameless psychedelic ellipses mixed on a sonic beatbox with large dollops of funk, Bruno cranks up the intensity wherever there’s a street party. Don’t miss it, because dancing is a great way to connect.
