Rivoli – Pequeno Auditório
Documentary by Joshua Oppenheimer

Joshua Oppenheimer’s first film, directed in 2012, was nominated for an Oscar (after winning a BAFTA award, European Film Award, Panorama Audience Award in Berlin, CPH:DOX award and National Board of Review award, amongst a total of over 70 awards). The film is about political assassins and the type of society they created in Indonesia after Suharto seized power in 1965. More than 1 million people who opposed the coup, most of them communists, were murdered. Shamelessly and without remorse, even with pride, members of these death squads, which operated freely throughout the country for almost two years, recount their atrocities for the camera and restage them as scenes from Hollywood films.
