(1968, United Kingdom)
Art & Language was the name adopted in 1968 to refer to a collaborative practice that had developed over the previous two years between Michael Baldwin and Terry Atkinson, together with David Bainbridge and Harold Hurrell. Over the next several years, Art & Language began to include a growing and changing number of members in their collaboration practice and in the publication of the Art-Language and The Fox magazines. By the mid-1970s, about 20 people were associated with this name, divided between England and New York. However, as of 1976, Michael Baldwin and Mel Ramsden have fully taken the artistic direction of the project.
