Visual and video artist, Ali Cherri belongs to the generation born during the Civil War of Lebanon whose artistic practice was undeniably marked by this unstable context. His solo exhibitions include Somniculus at Jeu de Paume, Paris and at CAPC, Bordeaux (2017); From Fragment to Whole at Jönköpings läns museum, Sweden (2017); and The Taxonomy of Fallacies at the Sursock Museum, Beirut (2016). His work was exhibited in international museums, among them: Galleria d’Arte Moderna, Milan; Center Pompidou, Paris; MAXXI, Rome; Guggenheim, New York. His recent work focuses on the role of the archaeological object in the construction of historical narratives.
