Maurizio Lazzarato is an Italian sociologist based in France. As a researcher, he has studied the immaterial labour, the transformation of wage labour, the ontology of labour, the cognitive capitalism and the “post-socialist” movements. He also writes about film, video and new imaging technologies. He was collaborator of the magazine Futur antérieur and was part of the founding group of the magazine Multitudes. In recent years, he studied debt as a political-economic device of social construction in works such as La fabrique de l’homme endetté: Essai sur la condition néolibérale or Gouverner par la dette.
